Goals of the 2nd-3rd Grade MAP
To create a safe environment in which children can grow, explore, and share comfortably.
To help children develop positive peer relationships, foster problem solving skills, and critical thinking.
To have fun while learning in a relaxed enriching environment
2:50 School dismissal and arrival to MAP (Parents please remember to call 508-359-8513 if your child is not coming to MAP no later than 2:00).
3:00 After attendance we take all the children outside, where the children get 15 minutes to unwind and free play/
3:15 The children are broken into two groups. The first group of children go to eat snack in the main room while the second group continues to play outside
3:30 The groups flip flop- group 2 that is outside goes in to snack, and the inside group goes outside.
Clubs begin- A club is an extended project or activity that usually runs for approximately 8 weeks. Children sign up for the clubs in advance and will stick with a club for its duration. If a child participates in a club he or she will miss Group Learning for the day.
3:45 Group 2 finishes snack and enters group learning time. Each day a different teacher presents a group lesson in accordance with our year long theme. We make these groups fun, interactive and interesting.
4:10 The group 2 goes outside, group 1 comes in to participate into the same group lesson.
4:30-4:40 All children meet in the main room for choice time. The teachers announce commendations for students who earned them, make announcements, and offer project. The children have the option to participate in project, free play in the room, or play either outside or in the gym per weather. Children are able to rotate through these activities as they so wish.
5:00 Club kids return are free to make choices.
5:45 All remaining children in the program come back to the main room, and play games with the teachers at the red table until they are picked up by 6.
